Application Instructions

Thank you for your interest in serving on a Maryland board or commission. The Appointments Office is committed to recruiting the best and most representative talent to serve on our 600+ boards and commissions–while also making sure every Marylander can access the opportunity to serve.

A few things to know:

  • Each board has unique statutory requirements and seat availability
  • We make appointments throughout the year
    • During the legislative session–January-April–we prioritize appointments to boards that require Senate confirmation; these are listed under the heading “Senate-confirmable boards” in the application board dropdown
    • From May to December, we prioritize appointments to those boards that do not require Senate confirmation; these are listed under the heading “General boards” in the application board dropdown
