Application Instructions
Thank you for your interest in serving on a Maryland board or commission. The Appointments Office is committed to recruiting the best and most representative talent to serve on our 600+ boards and commissions–while also making sure every Marylander can access the opportunity to serve.
A few things to know:
- Each board has unique statutory requirements and seat availability
- We make appointments throughout the year
- During the legislative session–January-April–we prioritize appointments to boards that require Senate confirmation; these are listed under the heading “Senate-confirmable boards” in the application board dropdown
- From May to December, we prioritize appointments to those boards that do not require Senate confirmation; these are listed under the heading “General boards” in the application board dropdown
- While you may serve on just one board, you may apply to up to 10 different boards

A few tips before applying…
- You must complete the application on a laptop or desktop computer
- Please plan to spend 30 minutes on the application to avoid it timing out
- You must create an account and log in to access the application
- You must answer all questions
- Please be prepared to provide the following when completing the application:
- Legal full name, date of birth, home address, phone number, email address
- Employment and education history
- Applicable professional licenses and organizations/memberships
- Resume/CV in pdf format
- You will receive an email confirmation once your application is successfully submitted
